Pullman, Washington In order to support Cougar student-athletes, Washington State University is strengthening its Name, Image, and Likeness initiatives with a new strategy that includes two new NIL roles.
Additionally, the program is growing its marketplace opportunities and resources.
The two new roles are Director of NIL Services in WSU athletics and Director of Playfly Max under WSU’s new multi-media rights holder, Playfly.
WSU Director of Athletics Anne McCoy stated, “We are dedicated to improving the student-athlete experience at WSU, and a strong NIL program is essential to that endeavor.” We value everyone’s efforts to make this advantageous for our student-athletes and strive to be creative, strategic, and cooperative in our approach.
On-site, the Director of Playfly Max will collaborate with the Cougar Collective, Playfly MMR personnel, and athletics staff to:
- Solicit and close commercial NIL partnership agreements
- Develop, lead and execute specialty revenue concepts and revenue-driving events
- Develop comprehensive revenue strategies to support WSU s NIL program
All NIL-related activities within the department will be managed and advanced by the WSU Director of NIL Services. The role will:
- Assist in coordinating and managing NIL marketing opportunities for WSU student-athletes by helping them build personal brands and connect with local, regional, and national brands
- Collaborate with Playfly in their efforts to solicit NIL opportunities with corporate sponsors
- Provide education on personal branding, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy
- Ensure that coaches and student-athletes are informed of the many third-party NIL platforms/resources and are reporting third-party deals through the new NILGO platform
