COUNCIL Idaho State Police say a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 95 north of Council on Saturday afternoon killed an Oregon lady and injured two others.
The collision occurred close to Fort Hall Hill’s milepost 143 at approximately 2:20 p.m. According to investigators, a 31-year-old woman from Huntington, Oregon, tried to pass a semi-truck in a no-passing zone while operating a 2008 Ford Focus south. Her car struck a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee headed north that was being driven by a 32-year-old Nampa guy head-on.
At the scene, the female driver of the Ford Focus passed away.
The Jeep’s driver and his passenger, a 35-year-old Nampa resident, were transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance. According to the cops, everyone was wearing seatbelts.
While crews cleared the site, the route was stopped for around four hours. Since then, all lanes have reopened.
