Wildfire burns 240 acres near homes in Eagle foothills, evacuation orders lifted

EAGLE, Idaho Eagle Fire reports that a wildfire burnt over 240 acres close to residences in the Eagle Foothills, but evacuation orders have been removed and homeowners are now free to return to their homes.
Crews are continuing to sweep up the area to ensure that there are no hot spots left after the fire was confined. According to officials, the fire was caused by construction that ignited the surrounding vegetation.
“Well,” Eagle Fire Deputy Chief Theron Hudson adds, “it burned really really really close to homes.” At times during the fire, I believe the majority of the residents were probably unable to tell if a house was on fire or if the shrubbery was the source of the fire.
He claims that firemen were able to save lives and property despite the flames getting extremely near to residences.
To the best of our knowledge, no structures were destroyed during the incident. One firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, and we lost one vehicle,” Hudson continued.
Listen to what Eagle Fire and the neighbors have to say:
However, wildfires are an all too common sight for neighbors like Stacy Moon.
We’ve seen a lot of flames in these mountains, so you simply say, ‘here we go again,'” Moon remarked.
He made room in his fields for neighbors to relocate their animals to safer areas.
The neighborhood just came together and help each other out and the Boise Fire Department, Eagle Fire Department Meridian, it looks like everybody was here,” added Moon.
The fire was responded to by firefighters from Boise, Eagle, Star, Meridian, Nampa, Middleton, Kuna, Parma, and BLM.
Just keep in mind that we live in a hot, dry climate, particularly at this time of year, and that it’s probably wise to take any precautions to reduce the chance of fire,” Hudson continued.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., a number of fire departments first arrived on the scene of the vegetation fire off of N. Star Vista Lane in Eagle.
