Caldwell (Statesman of Idaho) Monday night, an Idaho father was taken into custody for the alleged murder of his 18-year-old daughter, leaving the victim’s mother inconsolable and furious over her daughter’s passing.

According to a news release from the Caldwell Police Department, officers arrived at a residence in the 1600 block of Blaine Street just after 4 p.m. on Monday after Delbert Cornish’s son called 911 to report that his father was inside the house brandishing a gun.

When officers saw the son outdoors, he told them that his father had threatened to shoot a family member and then tried to stop him from fleeing. According to the notification, the son managed to leave the house without any injuries following a brief battle.

According to the announcement, police retrieved a handgun and discovered a young woman dead inside the house. The Canyon County Coroner’s Office recognized her as Hope Cornish on Tuesday.

Hope was known to her family and friends as Onyx. According to her mother, she was a strong-willed young lady who enjoyed heavy metal music and was vocal about her dislike of the current US president.

In an in-person interview with the Idaho Statesman on Tuesday, Crystal Thompson said that she was very protective of her brothers. She was also intelligent. Lovely.

Onyx’s favorite bands, according to Thompson, who passed her musical preferences on to her daughter, were Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold.

According to Thompson, Onyx struggled with substance misuse but had been clean for more than a year, had recently begun seeing someone new, and worked at the Wendy’s off of 10th Avenue in Caldwell.

According to Thompson, she was getting better.

Although Onyx and her father were often at odds, Thompson claimed she never imagined he would be violent. According to her, Onyx and her brother, Thompson’s middle kid, were mostly residing with the 51-year-old Cornish.

“I used to love this man,” Thompson remarked. But my daughter’s death has me furious. What on earth?

According to the announcement, Cornish first ran away from the scene but was caught at a Mountain Home home at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Monday and taken to the Elmore County Jail. According to internet records, he was taken into custody on suspicion of two felonies: first-degree murder and attempted murder.

In the statement, Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingram expressed his sadness and added, “My heart is heavy and I am deeply saddened for the family and friends affected by this horrific act of family violence.”

According to Thompson, his youngest son, who resides with her, is still unaware of his sister’s passing. He has autism and won’t comprehend, so she’s trying to figure out how to inform him, she told the Statesman on Tuesday.

Thompson promised to put together a celebration of Onyx’s life over the course of the following few days.
