Utah’s St. George (KSL.com) On Thursday, a St. George man who had previously been convicted of child sex crimes was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
In November, Jaycee Stewart, 33, entered a guilty plea to federal counts of obtaining child pornography, often known as material depicting child sexual abuse. Stewart was also given a life sentence of supervised release following his incarceration.
According to court filings, a youngster informed their elementary school teacher in April 2023 that Stewart was sexually abusing them. According to the child’s sentencing statement, Stewart also had a lot of pictures of nude girls in his room.
When police searched Stewart’s home, they found stacks of pornographic photos in his closet, binders, and printer, as well as pictures of child sex abuse material hanging on his walls. According to authorities, he also had a digital frame that rotated through over 22,000 pictures of child sex assault.
Stewart acquired and amassed a sizable collection of child pornography throughout the years. According to the sentencing memorandum, Stewart accumulated tens of thousands of child pornography files across various devices and media. How much time and care it took is evident from the sheer size and variety of Stewart’s collection. And unlike most criminals, Stewart was not ashamed of his collection, flaunting it on his bedroom walls and in a digital frame so anyone who chose to walk in could see.
Stewart, according to the prosecution, made no effort to conceal the photographs from young children and instead made them available for their unwelcome consumption.
According to court documents, Stewart belongs to a different category of criminals than other child pornography collectors since he was so overt in disclosing his sexual perversions to others and even exposing them to upsetting pictures and films.
Along with a history of physically abusing children, prosecutors contended that Stewart’s case merits almost all applicable guideline enhancements and calls for a significant sentence.
According to court filings, Stewart was accused of raping the elementary school student and aggravated sexually abusing a second victim in 2012 as part of the investigation against him. He is awaiting punishment next month after entering a guilty plea to sexually abusing both victims.
In 2015, Stewart was found guilty of possessing child pornography. After that conviction, he was placed on probation for three years and spent 320 days in jail.
