POCATELLO As stay-at-home moms, two local ladies have discovered an inventive side business that allows them to address an issue they are all too acquainted with: untidy car seats.
Mariah Sparrow and Macey Sloan both launched their own overnight car seat and stroller cleaning companies, Tiny Hiney Cleaning Co. and Happy Seats Co., respectively, after watching videos about the concept that were uploaded to TikTok.
Even though they both work in the same city, they don’t consider it a rivalry.
Since I didn’t come up with the idea in the first place, I don’t mind if others do it. Sloan said, “I also took it from someone else.”
According to Sparrow, there will likely be more in the future, which is completely acceptable because there are too many car seats for one firm to clean them all.
When Sloan, a mother of a one-year-old, and Sparrow, a mother of three-year-olds and six-month-olds, saw TikTok videos of other women who had launched their own car seat-cleaning companies, they began to consider how they could earn additional money for their families.
Before having kids, Sparrow worked in childcare. She recalled turning to her husband and remarking, “Well, I like cleaning our kids’ car seats, and I clean family members’ car seats and stuff also sometimes.” That’s something I could do.
Sloan recalls his thoughts at the time: “I haven’t heard of anyone in Pocatello and Chubbuck doing that, and it’s great.” I’m determined to start something and see if it succeeds.
After that, the two moms set out to conduct their research and begin their businesses. They launched their Facebook sites simultaneously, with Sloan’s on June 3 and Sparrow’s on May 31. When they looked into how to clean a car seat, they discovered that every model differed slightly from the others.
I do possess a large number of car seat manuals. Each car seat has a unique cleaning procedure, according to Sparrow. However, I was aware that I needed to ensure that I had all of the major brand manuals on hand.
While some may be machine washed, others cannot. According to Sloan, some can be tumble dried while others require air drying. Therefore, I always look up the serial number, enter it into Google, and read the instruction manual before I ever disassemble any car seat.
The impact of cleanliness on a child’s car seat safety is something that exhausted, time-pressed parents might not have time to consider. The safety features of a car seat may be compromised if there are too many food particles, toys, or other objects lodged beneath the fabric.
Both mothers discussed the significance of car seat safety and how attending to that can relieve parents’ stress. Both of them clean the strollers and car seats primarily using hot water, mild soap, and other mild cleaning supplies.
Yes, I started the company with the intention of making money, but I also do it for safety. According to Sparrow, many mothers she knows are either too busy or don’t know how to properly clean their car seats.
“It’s safe when it’s clean,” Sloan stated. Simply said, I think it prolongs the time that your car seat will remain secure.
Simply schedule a cleaning appointment on either the Sparrow or Sloan appointment page, leave the stroller or car seat on the porch that evening, and expect it back on the porch the following morning.
