The Ministry of Lifting Others

Published On:

The words of Elaine L. Jack We can lift someone who is struggling so she can bear it effectively, but we can’t always take away their weight. This speaks to the sacred power of presence and empathy.

Although no one else can completely bear our problems in life, the support and affection of another person can help us feel less burdened.

In a spiritual sense, this is a reflection of Christ’s nature, who frequently met people by providing them with support, consolation, and camaraderie through their hardships rather than by instantly eliminating them. Likewise, we are required to support one another by just showing up, listening, and serving.

According to Galatians 6:2, you will obey Christ’s law if you bear one another’s burdens.

This is standing by someone’s side during a storm, not always fixing their concerns. A little act of service, a prayer, or a kind word can often give someone the strength to continue.

Reminding them that they are loved, that their suffering is understood, and that they are not alone reflects God’s character, who is close to the brokenhearted and never abandons us to suffer in silence.

Offering the correct presence is more important in the ministry of elevating people than knowing all the answers. In someone else’s hour of greatest need, we become the hands and heart of Christ via compassion and faith.

It’s not always our job to cure things; sometimes we need to help lighten a dark area and remind each other of God’s power and hope. Helping others bear the burden effectively is a sacred and potent gift, even if we are unable to do so ourselves.
