Sydney Sweeney and Jude Law star in the trailer for ‘Eden’

Jude Law and Sydney Sweeney play island residents struggling to survive in Ron Howard’s new thriller Eden, which has a trailer out.

In the trailer, the diverse collection of settlers battle for their lives against the harsh backdrop of a deserted island, where the only people posing a threat to them are their fellow colonists. Dr. Friedrich Ritter, played by Law, and his wife Dora (played by Vanessa Kirby), who departed Berlin for Floreana Island in 1929, settle on the island. However, anarchy ensues upon the arrival of Baroness Eloise Bosquet (Ana de Armas).

The film, which Howard co-wrote, co-produced, and directed, also stars Daniel Br HL. The film, according to a synopsis, will tell the startling true story of a group of disillusioned outsiders who flee civilization and settle on a secluded island where they learn that their greatest threat is not the harsh environment or the lethal wildlife, but rather one another. A twisted power struggle breaks out as tensions rise and desperation sets in, resulting in bloodshed, treachery, and the murders of half the colony.

Based on a true story, the film made its theatrical debut in Germany in April of 2024 after making its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. View the trailer for Eden:HERE. The movie will be released in theaters in the United States on August 22.
