Spencer, Baumgardt lead Chukars to a third straight win

IDAHO GOES DOWN On Team Cap Giveaway Night at the park, the Idaho Falls Chukars (43-31) and the Great Falls Voyagers (24-51) faced off in the third game of a six-game series at Melaleuca Field. The Bonneville County boys won 14–9 with to power hitting, demonstrating the Chuks’ dominance once more.

Shane Spencer, the starting pitcher for the Chukars, pitched another 7-inning game while wearing an Idaho Falls uniform. Spencer struck out five enemy hitters, including two back-to-back to conclude the game, but giving up five earned runs off of nine Voyager hits.

Simon Baumgardt, a member of the German National Team, was a standout offensive player for Idaho Falls. He finished 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, increasing his season total of runs batted past 70. As the team’s home run leader (23) went 3-for-6 with three RBIs, Trevor Rogers also added a long ball to his record.

The Chukars calmed down after a chaotic first inning and led 7-2 going into the fourth. Going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Great Falls would come back to make the score 7-5.

With two innings remaining, the Chukars offense then went on another run streak of seven consecutive runs to put the good people ahead 14-5.

Before Nicolo Pinazzi shut the door on the mound once more to give Idaho Falls a 14-9 victory, the Voyagers offense managed to scrounge one run in the eighth and three consolation runs in the ninth.

Melaleuca Field will host the next meeting between the Chuks and Voyagers on Friday at 7:05 p.m. For Idaho Falls, Connor Harrison is anticipated to start.
