Sex offender arrested after allegedly sniffing women’s buttocks at department store

At a local department store, a registered sex offender was arrested by the Burbank Police Department for reportedly sniffing women’s buttocks.

On July 22, officers took 38-year-old Calese Carron Crowder into custody. According to the agency, he has a history of similar charges for lewd behavior in Glendale and Burbank since 2021 and is a registered sex offender on parole. Crowder was taken into custody by the Glendale Police Department in 2023 for allegedly breaking into a Glendale family’s house.

According to Burbank police Sgt. Stephen Turner, “it’s frustrating, but we do what we need to do.”

For the most recent incident, Crowder was charged by the Burbank City Attorney’s Office with one count of loitering with intent to commit a crime. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 1 and is being jailed on $100,000 bail.

Following reports of a suspicious individual loitering near the women’s area of a Nordstrom Rack in the Burbank Empire Center, Burbank police claimed they detained Crowder. Officers were informed by witnesses that Crowder had already fled the store when they arrived.

After searching the mall, police discovered Crowder inside a nearby Walmart.

According to investigators, surveillance footage showed Crowder passing through several departments and pausing in the women’s area. According to investigators, the video showed Crowder in the women’s restroom, crouching close to a woman and sniffing her buttocks.

Additionally, Crowder became well-known around the country after a TikToker purportedly captured him sniffing her at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank.

Michaela Witter, who captured Crowder apparently sniffing her on camera, expressed her opinion that the legal system is simply ignoring everything. The idea that someone like this, who is continuously harassing and abusing these folks, is permitted to be out in public is absurd.

Investigators encouraged anyone with information on the case to call (818) 238-3210, the department’s Investigations Division.
