POCATELLO Over the weekend, the Gate City Grays’ early-season woes persisted, as they dropped to 3-8 on the season and into the bottom of the Northern Utah League rankings.
After falling to the Boise Blues on Friday, the Grays split a doubleheader with the Providence Wolverines on Saturday, going 1-2 at Halliwell Park over the weekend.
Gate City had no scouting information on the Blues because they were the first team in the Northern Utah League to play the Boise expansion squad. They discovered that there is some thump from the new squad.
Despite a late comeback from the home nine that left the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Blues managed to hold on after hitting two home runs in the pitcher-friendly park at Halliwell.
