Spokane, Washington On August 6, 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed Pete Serrano as the Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, and he took the oath of office on Monday.
Serrano will be in charge of prosecuting all federal criminal cases and managing civil actions involving the United States in Eastern Washington as part of his new position. He will oversee a team of about 79 civil litigators, prosecutors, and support professionals.
Serrano was the mayor of Pasco, Washington, prior to his appointment. In 2021, he also co-founded the civil liberties NGO Silent Majority Foundation, where he was the General Counsel and Director.
From 2015 until 2018, Serrano focused on environmental law while working for the U.S. Department of Energy. He worked at Energy Northwest from 2018 to 2021, where he was responsible for approving small modular nuclear reactors.
Spokane is home to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington, which covers 20 counties in the area.
