Colorado’s Grand Junction. On Sunday, Johnny Pappas gave the homer-loving Chukars their most impressive individual power show of the season, leading to a 15–13 victory.
The Chukars (24-12) defeated the Jackalopes (14-21) at Suplizio Field thanks to the catcher’s three home runs and season-high five RBIs.
Five Jackalope home runs were hit by starter Connor Harrison, who struggled with the long ball as well. Jacob Jablonski (4), Simon Baumgardt (11) and Gabriel Vasquez (7) each contributed one to the Chukars’ six-run response, which complemented Pappas’ three-homer performance (7).
Harrison (W, 5-2) left with a 12-10 lead despite being hit for 11 hits and 10 runs in his 5 innings of work.
Steven Ordorica (Sv, 1) and three other relievers from Idaho Falls did just enough to win the series finale and the series 5-2.
Pappas hit a game-high five RBIs out of the lead-off position. Four RBIs were added by Vasquez.
Following a six-game absence due to injury, Jablonski made his comeback to the field in Grand Junction, where he concluded the series with two home runs and six RBIs in three games.
Starting Tuesday, the Chukars will play the Ogden Raptors (20-15) in a three-game set at home.
