Meridian, Idaho A two-vehicle collision in Boise County on Friday night that claimed one life is being looked into by Idaho State Police.
The collision happened at milepost 49.5 on State Highway 21 at 7:03 p.m. on August 15.
ISP reports that a 19-year-old Homedale lady was traveling south in a 1997 Saturn SL1 with a juvenile passenger and a 22-year-old female passenger from Marsing. A 59-year-old Kuna man was operating a northbound 2014 Ram 3500 pickup with a 64-year-old female passenger.
The Saturn veered off the road, returned to the highway, and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, crashing into the Ram, according to investigators.
An air ambulance took the Saturn’s driver to a nearby hospital. The young person was taken by ground ambulance. The juvenile was buckled up in a child safety seat, but neither of the adult passengers in the Saturn was wearing a seatbelt.
The Saturn’s 22-year-old passenger passed away instantly. The Ram’s passengers were not taken, even though they were buckled up.
Before southbound lanes were reopened, all travel lanes were closed for three hours and forty-three minutes. For another hour and four minutes, northbound lanes were still closed.
Idaho State Police are still investigating the crash.
