POCATELLO At Portneuf Valley Dental, there’s a fresh smile behind the chair. Dr. Tyler Marlowe, a native of Ammon, recently assumed ownership of the established dental office located as 1246 Yellowstone Avenue in Pocatello when Dr. Tanner Higham moved to Utah.
Marlowe was specifically chosen by Higham to carry on the clinic’s legacy of providing kind, community-focused care.
As one of eight students in the Idaho dental education program, Marlowe finished his first year of dental school at Idaho State University in Pocatello before relocating to Omaha to finish his studies at Creighton University School of Dentistry.
While we were here, my wife and I fell in love with Pocatello because of the people, the mountains, and the outdoor activities. Since that year, we have been trying to find a way to return, Marlowe stated.
He graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He later graduated with a summa cum laude degree at the top of his class from Creighton University with a doctorate in dental surgery. Marlowe garnered accolades for excellence in prosthodontic restoration, implant implantation, and periodontal surgery in addition to being inducted into the national dental honor organization Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Marlowe, who is currently raising three kids in Pocatello, said that his father’s strong work ethic pushed him to pursue his dream of owning his own company while managing the well-known Thrifty Nickel newspaper in East Idaho.
In addition to driving and operating the dental clinic in Challis twice a month, I worked at another clinic in Pocatello for a while after graduating, Marlowe recalled. This was the ideal chance for us to stay in town and run our own company.
The clinic’s hours have been extended to include midday appointments and all five weekdays under Marlowe’s direction. The office currently has state-of-the-art equipment, such as CEREC same-day crowns and bridges, state-of-the-art 3D imaging, and Pearl AI, one of just two FDA-approved dental software programs that help interpret and display radiography results. For convenience, online scheduling and payment options have also been included.
A wider range of in-house procedures are available to patients, such as full-mouth restoration, dental implants, wisdom teeth extraction, sedation alternatives, cosmetic dentistry, and clear aligners.
With features like nitrous oxide (sometimes called laughing gas), ceiling-mounted TVs, a comfort menu with items like lip balm and weighted blankets, and a warm, age-appropriate atmosphere, the office space has also been improved to put the comfort of the patients first.
Our goal is to provide each and every patient with an exceptional dental experience. Compassion, clinical quality, and open communication are the cornerstones of everything we do. “Marlowe said.” This is not a corporate setting. My private practice will remain confidential.
According to Marlowe, Portneuf Valley Dental is now taking new clients and accepts almost all dental insurance plans. For those without dental insurance, we also provide a membership plan that offers 15% off all other necessary dental treatment and 20% off all routine care, which is on par with or better than most insurance plans.
