Mariners Legend Ichiro Suzuki set for Induction Into Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday

New York’s Cooperstown On Sunday, Ichiro Suzuki, one of the Seattle Mariners’ all-time greats who started his professional career in the United States in 2001, will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Along with CC Sabathia, Dick Allen, Dave Parker, and Billy Wagner, Ichiro is a member of the 2025 Hall of Fame class. The induction ceremony will be televised live on MLB Network and streamed online at 1:30 p.m. at Cooperstown’s Clark Sports Center.

As a key member of the Mariners organization, Ichiro spent 14 of his 19 Major League seasons with Seattle. He played for the Orix BlueWave in Japan’s Pacific League for nine seasons before to joining MLB. Over his 28-year career in Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball, Ichiro amassed more professional hits than any other player in the history of the game, totaling 4,367.

He made one of the most spectacular MLB debuts in league history in 2001. He was only the second player in history to earn both Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season. In addition, he was chosen for the first of ten All-Star Games, nine of which he started for the American League, and he received the first of ten Gold Glove Awards.

Ichiro set a single-season record in 2004 with 262 hits, and he led Major League Baseball in hits seven times. He became the only player in Major League Baseball history to reach the 200-hit milestone ten times in a single season.

Additionally, Dave Parker, who died last month, and Dick Allen, who died in 2020, will be honored at the induction ceremony. Dick Allen’s widow, Willa Allen, and Dave Parker’s son, David Parker II, will attend the event on behalf of their families. Before the ceremony on Sunday, the in-attending Hall of Famers got together for a golf competition on Saturday.
