Man hospitalized with third degree burns following cabin fire near Ashton

ASHTON Loud sirens broke up the Ashton fireworks show’s spectacular finale on Friday night.

About two miles north of Ashton, part of the North Fremont Fire Department was en route to a log cabin fire.

Fire Chief Andrew Rogers said the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. When they got there, the cabin was completely engulfed in flames, he tells EastIdahoNews.com.

Rogers doesn’t know the name or age of the individual who was staying there at the time.

According to Roger, he suffered some third-degree burns on his hands.

He was transported to the hospital by an ambulance crew.

For the following few hours, firefighters battled the fire on the scene. The cabin was completely destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished at around one in the morning.

It’s difficult to determine its worth given current prices, but Rogers estimates that replacing this cottage may cost somewhere between $100,000 and $150,000.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

The man was discharged from the hospital on Saturday, according to Rogers, but he still has a lengthy recuperation ahead of him.
