Lamb Fire Prompts Level 3 Evacuations Near Troy

Update: Evacuations are in place as the lamb fire spreads to 80 acres.

The Lamb Fire south of Troy, Idaho, has grown to about 80 acres as of 4:00 p.m. on August 11 near Driscoll Ridge Road and Lamb Road. According to the Latah County Sheriff’s Office, homes from Driscoll Ridge to Sumner Road, Bartho Lane, and Lamb Road are still under Level 3 Go evacuation orders.

There are several agencies present, including air attack, two Type 1 helicopters, and two Single Engine Air Tankers providing aerial support. Crews from the U.S. Forest Service, Teakean Type 2 Initial Attack Hand Crew, Idaho Department of Lands, and rural fire departments from Troy, Moscow, and Deary are among the ground resources.

Investigations are still ongoing into the fire, which was reported at 2:15 p.m. The Latah County Sheriff’s Facebook page has updates.

Troy, IdahoThe Lamb Fire has spread quickly to around 50 acres, prompting the Latah County Sheriff’s Office to issue a Level 3: Go evacuation order. There are 63 addresses in the evacuation zone, according to officials.

Areas outside of Troy along Driscoll Ridge Road and Lamb Road are under evacuation as of 3:24 p.m. Residents are advised to leave right away from Driscoll Ridge to Sumner Road, Bartho Lane, and Lamb Road.

To alert residents, deputies have begun knocking on people’s doors. To help woods firefighters suppress the fire, authorities encourage the public to stay away from the area.
