ISP: Log truck driver runs red light, hits pickup truck in Hayden

The news release from Idaho State Police is as follows.

Hayden near around 5:05 a.m. on Tuesday, a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Hayden Avenue and US Highway 95 resulted in injuries. The Idaho State Police are currently looking into the incident.

A 2022 Peterbilt log truck, driven by a 78-year-old man from Deary, was allegedly driving north on US95 when it failed to stop for a red light at Hayden Avenue, according to many witnesses. A westbound 2015 Ram 1500 pickup, driven by a 64-year-old man from Hayden, was then struck by the log truck.

The log truck came to rest on the left shoulder of the northbound left lane, while the Ram pickup was forced into the northbound right shoulder of US95. The Ram pickup’s driver was taken by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. There were no injuries to the log truck driver.

For over two and a half hours, the collision temporarily closed US95 as emergency personnel cleared the site and conducted investigations. The Idaho State Police are still investigating the crash.
