The following is a news release from AAA Idaho.
BOISE – As Idaho temperatures rise, gas prices have been slow to follow – at least, for now. According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.29, which is about a penny and a half less than a week ago and 35 cents cheaper than a year ago.
The national average currently sits at $3.12 per gallon, which is also a penny and a half less than a week ago, and 32 cents less than a year ago. Idaho has moved up in the rankings to 8th in the country for the most expensive fuel.
According to the Energy Information Administration’s most recent report, U.S. gasoline stocks increased by more than 5 million barrels while fuel demand slipped by 1 million barrels per day. Domestic refinery production also increased to more than 93% of capacity. All these factors have contributed to lower pump prices.
The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude oil is currently trading near $65 per barrel, which is $3 more than a month ago, but $13 less than a year ago.
“It’s good to get another week of relief on gas prices, but filling up is likely to become a more expensive proposition with kids out of school and summer vacations in full swing,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “And then there’s the 4th of July, which will be here before you know it.”
Here’s a look at Idaho gas prices, as of June 9:
Boise – $3.20
Coeur d’Alene – $3.31
Franklin – $3.24
Idaho Falls – $3.23
Lewiston – $3.33
Pocatello – $3.25
Rexburg – $3.22
Twin Falls – $3.32
