Idaho Falls man dies after rollover crash near American Falls

The news release from Idaho State Police is as follows.

The American Fall A single-vehicle collision that happened on Sunday at around 3:44 p.m. on I-86 eastbound east of American Falls is being looked into by Idaho State Police.

A 35-year-old Nigerian man was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer east on I-86. The Explorer rolled into the median as a result of the driver overcorrecting. A ground ambulance took the driver and two passengers—a 72-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man—from Idaho Falls to a nearby hospital. The 72-year-old man passed away in the hospital from his wounds.

The Explorer’s three passengers had all fastened their seat belts.

Power County Sheriff, Power County EMS, and Bannock County EMS provided assistance to the Idaho State Police.

For around two hours, the route was closed.
