BOISE (Capital Sun of Idaho) Ra l Labrador, the attorney general of Idaho, declared on Wednesday that his office is joining a nationwide multi-state initiative to combat robocalls.
According to a press statement from Labrador’s office, 37 voice providers received warning letters from Labrador and the 51 attorneys general who make up the bipartisan Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force, demanding that they stop allowing illegal robocalls to be conducted over their networks.
Labrador stated in the announcement that Idahoans are tired of scammers using unlawful robocalls to target their families. These telecom companies are being warned that they need to quickly comply with federal regulations.
The providers have not registered in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Databases, have not submitted a plan outlining their strategy to curb illegal robocalls, and have not complied with the FCC’s regulations regarding answering government traceback requests, which track the origin and delivery of robocalls.
According to the statement, by ignoring these basic guidelines, these businesses are permitting robocallers to access their phone networks and then forwarding their calls to additional downstream providers until they are received by Idaho residents.
According to the statement, the task force is also writing to 99 downstream providers who take calls from the 37 businesses to let them know that they are doing business with dishonest people who are unwilling to abide by the regulations that apply to everyone equally.
In addition to the task force’s efforts, FCC officials said on Tuesday that they would eliminate seven of the 37 providers from the Robocall Mitigation Database. This implies that other providers will no longer be permitted to receive and forward any calls from their networks.

The Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force was established in 2022 by 51 attorneys general, with Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, and North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson serving as its leaders. According to the press release, the task force looks into and prosecutes businesses that are in charge of routing large amounts of fraudulent and unlawful robocall traffic into and throughout the nation.
Nine voice service companies were alerted by Labrador in April that they might be breaking both federal and state laws by continuing to send possibly illegal robocalls throughout their networks.
