According to several sites, including ESPN, the woman who allegedly assaulted Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward is suing him in civil court. Due to accusations made by the same lady, Ward, 34, was previously arrested in June on a felony domestic violence charge.
The woman filed the lawsuit in Harris County (Texas) District Court on Wednesday, claiming that Ward had sexually and physically abused her on several occasions. She also accused Ward of drug usage, emotional abuse, financial manipulation, and threats of death. According to reports, she is requesting $20 million in damages.
According to the lawsuit, on June 12, while the woman’s 3-year-old child was present, Ward allegedly broke into her home, slapped and strangled her, and threatened to sexually abuse her. Previous instances are also mentioned in court documents: The lady says she saw Ward inhaling a white drug from a bathroom counter before he allegedly forced her onto a mattress and sexually assaulted her in January 2025. Ward is also suspected of attacking her again in April. The document also claims that following his detention in June, Ward has repeatedly broken the terms of his bond, including being arrested once more for violating the agreement by consuming alcohol.
Stephen Jackson, Ward’s lawyer, stated: “At this time, we are primarily focused on the grand jury, which is scheduled for the first week of September, in an attempt to persuade them that Jimmie shouldn’t be charged.” One step at a time is how we will approach this. Prior to concentrating on the civil lawsuit, we will attempt to have the criminal accusations dropped.
Houston’s Physically Unable to Perform list includes Ward, who is presently out due to a foot injury. A grand jury is set to hear his criminal case on August 31. When questioned about the situation on the opening day of training camp, Texans general manager Nick Caserio stated that the team will essentially let the legal process handle itself.
