COLFAX, WA A guy from Garfield, 51, entered a guilty plea to the charge of pointing a firearm at a driver outside Grumpy’s Tavern. In Whitman County Superior Court on Friday, Fritz Henn entered a guilty plea to felony second-degree assault. On May 11, Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies took Henn into custody.

He was pointing the rifle at a man in a pickup truck in the roadway in front of the Garfield pub. Henn was swiftly disarmed by pub patrons. Henn expressed his anger to deputies, saying he believed his dog had been shot. No one shot at his dog, deputies concluded. Henn has successfully finished inpatient alcohol therapy after his incarceration.

Henn was given a five-month jail sentence by Judge Roger Sandberg, who accepted the prosecution’s proposal. In this instance, the typical punishment range is three to nine months. About two and a half months of jail time remain after Judge Sandberg gave Henn credit for treatment and time previously spent in jail. In addition, he was put on a one-year probationary period and mandated to continue his substance abuse therapy.
