Fort Hall On the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, a wildfire has spread to an area of roughly 25 acres.
According to a Shoshone-Bannock Tribes press release, the Rio Vista Fire began Friday around noon in southern Bingham County, close to North Rio Vista Road.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs Wildland Fire, North Bannock Fire Department, Fort Hall Fish and Game, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service are assisting the Fort Hall Fire Department in their response.
Eric King, the chief of the Fort Hall Fire Department, stated in a news release that the fire spread swiftly because of the winds and dry conditions.
The public has been prohibited from using the following roads:
- Sheepskin Road (eastbound)
- Bench Road (eastbound)
- Philbin Road (westbound)
According to the announcement, the closures are in place to guarantee that firefighting personnel and equipment can reach the area safely and without obstruction.
By 6 p.m. Friday, Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire officials predict that the fire will be completely contained. They stated that no structures are currently under danger and that the fire is human-caused.
The public is advised to stay away from the area.
