Driver Flees Scene After Causing Collision That Injured Five Between Washtucna and Othello

Washington, Washington The Washington State Patrol reports that a crash on State Route 26 between Washtucna and Othello Wednesday evening injured five persons.

At 5:02 p.m., a southbound car on U.S. 395 pulled onto the highway in front of a westbound car after stopping at the top of the off-ramp to SR 26. After evasively avoiding the first car, the westbound driver lost control and went into the eastbound lane, where it was hit by a third eastbound car.

After striking a guardrail and a sign, the westbound car began to slide down an embankment. The first car—which was only described as a silver compact SUV—paused for a moment before heading east on SR 26 in the direction of Washtucna.

Three young people from Pullman, ages three, six, and ten, were among those hurt in the collision. Timothy Oronge, 41, of Everett, and Nelly Kereiyian, 32, of Pullman, were also hurt. They were all sent to Richland’s Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

There were no injuries to the other three passengers.
