The Central Fire District has released the following news release.

RIGBY The Central Fire District was called to a reported field fire near cotton trees at around 3:42 p.m. on Friday. When the fire first started to grow toward two cars and a neighboring barn, an active response was swiftly given. All of the local buildings and private property were effectively protected by firefighters.

The fire was spreading through the trees and heading toward a house nearby. The property was completely safeguarded because response firefighters acted quickly to stop the fire’s spread before it reached the house.

Within forty-five minutes, the fire was contained. Crews stayed on the scene to perform mop-up tasks, such as removing vulnerable trees and putting out hot spots. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) provided support in completing this endeavor.

No one was hurt, and no personal property was damaged. There were no firefighter injuries. It has been shown that the fire was caused by accident.

In addition to Central Fire’s full-time staff, the Central Fire District reacted with equipment from the Rigby, Ririe, and Menan stations. BLM, Bonneville County Fire (with a hemet), and Ucon Fire Department (with a hemet and brush truck) all offered mutual aid.

The Central Fire District would like to express its appreciation to all responding agencies for their cooperation and prompt action in halting the spread and possible damage.
