Margo Price shares video for “Don’t Wake Me Up” from new album

Don’t Wake Me Up, a duet with folk singer Jesse Welles, is a new song by Margo Price that teases her upcoming album, Hard Headed Woman.Price’s lead single, “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down,” is followed by “Don’t Wake Me Up.”

Price stated in a press release: Poet Frank Stanford served as the original inspiration for this song, which started out as a poem a few years ago. The idea I scribbled in my abandoned notebook was discovered by my husband and co-writer, Jeremy Ivey, and we revived it with a tune. In ten minutes, everything came together in one of those “lightning bolt” moments when you’re connected to something greater than yourself. Even when the outside world appears like a nightmare, I wanted to remind people that there are still places and ways to dream. One of my favorite up-and-coming songwriters is Jesse Welles, a rare prolific musician with a meaningful message. I became a huge fan of both his voice and lyrics after meeting him at Farm Aid. I’m so appreciative that he could sing this song with me.
