Missed opportunities cost Chukars in loss

IDAHO GOES DOWN Melaleuca Field hosted the fourth game of a six-game series between the Great Falls Voyagers (25-51) and the Idaho Falls Chukars (43-32). Throughout the night, the Chuks left 15 men on base, and the Voyagers took advantage of their opportunities to win 10–4 for Great Falls.

With three strikeouts and no walks in five innings, Chukars starter Connor Harrison gave up eight earned runs. Harrison suffered the defeat, bringing his season record down to 7-6.

Eddie Pelc had the only multi-hit night for Idaho Falls’ offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, a single, and two walks. In their nine innings of offensive play, Idaho Falls only managed five hits while walking an absurd fourteen times.

Tyler Wyatt’s RBI double gave the Chukars a 1-0 lead after the first two innings.

After that, the Voyagers scored four runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, and four more in the fifth inning, going on a nine-run run streak. Amazingly, Great Falls used two outs in the inning to score eight of their first nine runs.

After loading the bases in the seventh inning with no one out, the Chuks would leave them loaded twice in the following two innings, bringing the score to 9-2 after six.

The Voyagers would go on to win 10–4 after IF and GF traded runs in the eighth.

The Chuks went a startling 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position and 3-for-20 overall with runners on base during the game.

Melaleuca Field will host the next meeting between the Chuks and Voyagers on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. For Idaho Falls, Gary Grosjean is anticipated to start.
