RIRIE After crashing his motorcycle into a garbage truck Wednesday afternoon, a 49-year-old Madison County man lost his life.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release identifying the motorcycle’s rider as Jeremy Paul Hurst.
According to the press release, the collision happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. on 160th East close to the Old Ririe Highway.
The crash was attended by Jefferson Central Fire, the Sheriff’s Office, and Idaho Falls Ambulance. When they got there, they discovered Hurst trapped beneath the garbage truck.
Life-saving measures were taken after the victim was released, however he eventually passed away from his wounds at the crash site. Despite being called to the area, an air ambulance was not utilized.
Hurst failed to see the garbage truck stopped on the side of the road in time to avoid it, according to deputies.
Deputies were informed by witnesses that Hurst had placed his bike on its side before to the collision with the truck. Hurst was wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.
