St. Anthony A 64-year-old lady was taken into custody last week after authorities claim she used her tax services business to steal more than $56,000 from a client.

Junell Williams faces one count of felony grand theft and fifty charges of criminal computer crime.

Williams is the proprietor and operator of Chester Payroll and Williams Tax Service, according to a news release from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court records, Williams collected $56,381.87 from a customer who ran a Rexburg-based business in 2021 in order to pay payroll taxes to the IRS, Idaho state taxes, and Idaho unemployment insurance.

According to the police, Williams took 52 times from the client’s bank account in 2021 using a computer or computer equipment, and these payroll taxes were never remitted to any of the businesses.

According to reports, Williams defrauded the business owner of money that has never been reimbursed by using her professional storefront and friendship with a tax firm.

According to court minutes, Williams was taken into custody on Thursday and placed on $10,000 bond at the Fremont County Jail because he had no prior criminal history.

On Friday, she bonded out after being transferred to the Madison County Jail. There are currently no planned court hearings.

Williams may spend up to life behind bars if found guilty.

Williams is not necessarily the perpetrator of these crimes, even if she has been charged with them. Until someone is proven guilty, they are all presumed innocent.
