Season 2 of Presumed Innocent will be starring and executive produced by Rachel Brosnahanis on Apple TV+.
Based on Scott Turow’s book, the first season of Presumed Innocent premiered in 2024 and starred Jake Gyllenhaal as a prosecutor who is accused of killing a coworker. Instead of continuing to follow Gyllenhaal’s character, Apple TV+ decided to make it an anthology (the actor will remain an executive producer for season two).
The novel Dissection of a Murder by Jo Murray, which is scheduled for release in 2026, will serve as the basis for the second season. The description from publisher Pan Macmillan says, “When Leila Reynolds [Brosnahan] is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge.” However, Apple has not released an official logline for the season. She should not be handling this type of issue; it is much outside of her area of competence. However, Jack Millman, the defendant, is unambiguous. She is the only thing he want.
This is Brosnahan’s first TV lead role since the end of her popular Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, for which she was nominated for and won the 2018 Emmy for best actress in a comedy for all five seasons. In addition, she received two Golden Globes for her role in the series out of four nominations. Brosnahan’s next appearance will be as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s much awaited Superman movie.
Executive producer and co-showrunner David E. Kelley created the television series. Season 2 will also have Erica Lipez as executive producer and co-showrunner. Rachel Rusch Rich and J.J. Abrams serve as executive producers for Bad Robot Productions.
