Spokane, WashingtonAfter a thorough investigation into serious criminal activity, including unlawful conduct involving minors, the Spokane Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), working with several federal and regional law enforcement partners, arrested 38-year-old Taurean D. Jones on July 30, 2025.
When SIU detectives received a report from the State of Idaho in January regarding claims of improper and illegal behavior, the case officially started. According to preliminary findings, there was coordinated behavior across state borders involving a vulnerable youth. As the inquiry went on, police discovered evidence that the victim was allegedly exploited over an extended period of time using threats and illegal substances. As the investigation expanded, a second possible victim was discovered.
The FBI and other federal and local agencies collaborated to determine the full extent of the crisis. Search warrants were issued for a car and a Jones-affiliated downtown Spokane company as part of the operation. A loaded, stolen handgun and illegal drugs were found in the car by law police.
Jones has been charged with several felonies, including but not limited to involvement in unlawful exploitation, various assault-related offenses, illegal firearm possession, and distribution of controlled narcotics. He has been placed into the Spokane County Jail.
The dedication of Spokane-area law enforcement to safeguarding the community, particularly the most vulnerable, is demonstrated by this case. Those impacted are currently receiving assistance from advocacy groups and skilled counselors.
