Highway Work Underway Near Aht’Wy Plaza to Improve Safety and Traffic Flow

Published On:

LEWISTON, ID To improve traffic flow and lower the danger of collisions at the interchange, road contractors are installing safety measures and signage along U.S. Highway 95 close to the Aht Wy Plaza.

Repaving almost 100 feet of the road as part of the construction to fix a soft point close to the interchange’s east side. At least one lane will be restricted in each way, and drivers should anticipate delays of up to thirty minutes, according to the Idaho Transportation Department. For around two weeks, work is planned from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with the possibility of flaggers.

In order to keep opposing lanes apart and stop hazardous southbound left turns across traffic, yellow tubular delineators will be permanently positioned along the centerline as part of the project. Green directional signage at strategic locations and new pavement markings to further direct traffic around the plaza are two more enhancements.

Additionally, there are adjustments to access: southbound drivers must use the Nez Perce Drive exit to go to the casino or petrol station. Only northbound traffic is now allowed to use the right-hand turn lane into the fueling station. The interchange is still open for entry into the plaza from both directions.

It is advised that drivers make advance plans and monitor the traffic situation by calling 5-1-1, using the 511 app, or visiting 511.idaho.gov.
