Eastern Idaho Six teams from eastern Idaho have earned a spot in the American Legion State Tournaments, which will take place from Thursday to Monday.
These are the results of the opening round games played on Thursday.
Class A
The Idaho Falls Tigers will play in the loser’s bracket on Friday after losing to the Kuna Tribe 6-5 on Thursday night. To stay in the tournament, they will play the Melba Stallions.
The CBA Stampede defeated the Rigby Mustangs 11-1 and RA Black defeated them 15-3 in back-to-back losses to start their tournament.
To stay in the winner’s brackets going into play on Friday, the Idaho Falls Grizzlies defeated the Stallions 10-2 and the Nampa Braves 13-3 in their two day one wins in Idaho Falls.
The Idaho Falls Bees began their tournament run with a 7-0 victory over the Prairie Cardinals.
In the second round of play, which took place on Friday morning, the Bees defeated the Grizz after a late comeback.
The Bees responded with a three-spot in the bottom of the seventh after giving up the lead and eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Remi Hammer singled two runs to tie the game, taking advantage of some odd pitching from the Grizz. Brady Walsh scored the winning run on a walk-off wild pitch two pitches later, giving the team a 12-11 victory.
The victory puts the Bees back in the winner’s bracket and gives them total control. The Grizz must win in order to move on because they are in the loser’s bracket.
