Overnight, the MM65 I-84 Fire expanded to include 8,902 acres. At approximately 1 a.m., firefighting crews halted forward progression and contained the wildfire

The latest update from the BLM indicates that the MM65 I-84 Fire has grown to 8,000+ acres.



WATCH: Evacuations lifted after wildfire along I-84 south of Boise

Evacuation orders have been lifted for the surrounding areas, and there are currently no road closures.

There is no firm timetable for fire control, but crews are hopeful they can contain the fire by 1 a.m. tonight.

Two power outages are being reported in relation to the ongoing wildfire.

According to Idaho Power

, 32 customers are without power north of Interstate-84, 3. South of the interstate, 67 customers are without power.

The BLM has confirmed the MM65 I-84 Fire has now burned approximately 8,000 acres and continues to grow.

A barn has been lost in the wildfire. Our neighborhood reporter on the scene, Allie Triepke, witnessed livestock being evacuated from the area.

Crews with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) are responding to a 5,000-acre wildfire on Interstate 84 (I-84) 8 miles southeast of Boise that began early Saturday afternoon.

Level 3 evacuations are currently in effect for areas to the south and east of the wildfire as structures are currently threatened. The public is urged to avoid the area.

The wildfire was started by a vehicle fire, which was reported by the Idaho Transportation Department at 12:16 p.m.

There is currently no estimated time of containment.

According to a Facebook post by BLM Idaho Fire

, motorists headed eastbound on I-84 should “expect possible lane closures and delays.” A highway camera from the area shows that traffic is currently experiencing a slowdown.

Orchard Access Road is currently closed as crews use the road for firefighting efforts.
