IDAHO FALLS This Wednesday, friends and family are asking the community to come together in support of a two-year-old boy who was just given a cancer diagnosis.

McKinzie Huntsman has three boys with her husband, Jeffrey. Brooks is six months old, and Kru and Jax are twins, both of whom are two years old.

Jax just received a leukemia diagnosis. From 5 to 8 p.m. on July 9, the Axe Cancer for Jax Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction will be held. It will take place in Idaho Falls at The Barn on 1st Street. There will be a silent auction and a loaded potato bar available for donation. To find out more, click here.

After noticing that Jax wasn’t acting like his normal self, McKinzie informed EastIdahoNews.com that Jax went to the doctor in June.

He is a difficult youngster who is always on the run and a busy boy who is similar to our devil on wheels. “He just kind of acted really off to me a couple of weeks before we ended up taking him to the doctor,” she said. He became much less hungry. He would leave the house to play, but he would never stay out for very long. He wanted me to hold and carry him constantly.

He was quite autonomous, according to her, which was not typical of him.

Jax is the busiest person, as anybody who knows him knows. He never takes a seat. He is riding a bicycle. He just goes crazy on our small motorized four-wheeler! Never ceases loving it. He plays with intensity. She stated he is really adventurous.

McKinzie took Jax to see his physician on June 9. After 8 a.m. blood tests, she received a call at 1 p.m. informing her that his lab results showed leukemia.

It was the most heartbreaking news I had ever heard when I got the call, but I think my mother instinctively recognized something wasn’t right. She stated, “I was sort of mentally preparing.”

The Huntsman family arrived at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City at 6 p.m., prepared for Jax to receive medical attention. After being admitted, he began chemotherapy. In case of any issues, he is expected to stay in Utah for a month.

According to McKinzie, chemotherapy will be administered in stages over the course of two years. He has been on chemotherapy for three weeks now.

The going has been excellent. He’s reacting nicely. “He’s been a trooper, and chemotherapy is not a fun thing to be on,” McKinzie added.

In the meantime, friends and family are supporting Jax and his family in every way they can. It will be expensive to drive back and forth from Utah and pay for lodging, meals, and petrol.

McKinzie’s sister-in-law, Rachel Norman, is assisting with the Wednesday fundraising event. It was shocking to hear the news about Jax, she said.

As an aunt, I believe that our whole family was crushed and heartbroken. Norman remarked, “We have no doubt that he’s going to pull through this because we know that he’s such a strong, amazing little boy.”

According to her, the Huntsman family will receive all of the event’s profits.

Every act of kindness matters, whether it’s by attending the event, contributing to the auction, or just remembering Jax in your prayers. We know that eastern Idaho is full of kind, giving individuals. Norman continued, “This is about more than just raising money; it’s about reminding Jax and his family, and others going through similar struggles, that they’re not alone.”

Donations can be made to the @axecancerforjax Venmo account. Furthermore, financial contributions can be sent to the account: Donations for Jax (Huntsman) at any Idaho Central Credit Union.

I’m so thankful for my amazing family, friends, and community, who are ready to come together, support us, and lend a hand however they can. “We are extremely fortunate,” McKinzie said. What a tough child Jax is. Considering everything that he is going through, he has handled this with great grace.
