Multiple firefighters reportedly shot while responding to fire in northern Idaho

ALENE COEUR According to reports, many firefighters were shot while battling a fire in northern Idaho.

A number of law enforcement agencies have responded to the Canfield Mountain region near East Nettleton Gulch Road.

Northern Lakes Fire Protection Chief Pat Riley told KHQ that the firefighters were shot while battling a brush fire.

According to KHQ, the brush fire is still a hazard even after firefighters were compelled to retreat.

An emergency shelter-in-place was declared by Kootenai County Emergency Management for residents near Canfield Mountain Trailhead and Nettleton Gulch Road.

It is uncertain how severe the injuries are.
