STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Shedeur Sanders, the rookie quarterback for the Browns, is charged with operating a pickup truck at 101 mph (163 km/h) on an interstate in the Cleveland suburbs earlier this week.
According to a report given to local media, Sanders was stopped by the Strongsville Police Department Tuesday at around 12:30 a.m. in a 60 mph (97 km/h) zone on Interstate 71 close to the Ohio Turnpike.
According to authorities, Sanders, 23, could waive the fourth-degree misdemeanor charge in exchange for a $250 fine.
A request for comment was not immediately answered by the Browns.
Despite numerous predictions that he would be selected in the first round, Sanders, the son of Hall of Fame player Deion Sanders, was selected in the fifth round (144th overall) of the NFL draft this spring. At the University of Colorado, he played under his father.
Sanders faces competition from three other Browns quarterbacks. Training camp will begin in late July after minicamp concluded last week.
