The Dragons added more honors this week when the All-State picks were revealed. EASTERN IDAHO Malad carried its pitching domination all the way to a 3A state championship.
After guiding Malad to a second state championship and a 25-6 record, Jeff Snow was awarded Coach of the Year.
Shortstop Carter Blaisdell and senior pitchers Brady Showell and Brycen Howe were selected to the first team.
Darrell Vasquez, Firth’s all-around athlete, was also selected for the first team.
The Dragons had a strong combination of Howe and Showell on the mound.
Howe recorded eight full games and 78 strikeouts in his 8-0 record, which included a 1.46 ERA. Showell finished 8-4 with a 2.04 ERA, pitching 11 complete games.
Senior shortstop Blaisdell led the club with 11 doubles and 38 RBIs while hitting.435. In addition, he stole 20 bases.
Vasquez of the Cougars slugged, knocked in 32 runs, scored 39 runs, and hit.412.600.
