The Idaho Transportation Department has released the following news release.
INKOM The northbound Inkom entrance ramp into Interstate 15 (Exit 58) will be closed for two nights due to bridge removal. Weather and other conditions allowing, the closure will occur on Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
In order to go north on I-15, traffic will be diverted via Old Highway 91 and then to Exit 63. Please travel carefully, keep an eye out for personnel, and use caution.
It is anticipated that there will be a significant amount of noise during the bridge demolition due to the nature of the work.
Bridges on I-15 at Inkom are currently being replaced by the Idaho Transportation Department:
- Over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Old Highway 91.
- Over Rapid Creek Road (Main Street).
- I-15 bridges and reconstructing the West Interchange.
Instead of building one site at a time over three years, ITD consolidated and streamlined the projects to cut the construction duration to about two years. This method effectively uses building expenditures while minimizing inconvenience to the traveling public and the local communities.
Please go to:itdprojects.idaho.gov/pages/i15-inkom-corridor to find out more about the project or to subscribe to construction updates. 511.idaho.gov will be updated with information on this temporary closure and any traffic-related effects.
