IDAHO GOES DOWN The Idaho Falls Chukars dropped from first to fourth place in the Pioneer Baseball League’s first-half standings after losing six of their previous eight games.

The pitchers for the Chukars have given up 63 runs and 50 in their six losses during their first losing streak of the season.

After losing to the Ogden Raptors 13-5 on Thursday, Idaho Falls made two adjustments in an attempt to end its current losing streak. According to general manager Chris Hall, the Chukars cut two right-handed pitchers, Caleb Reyes and Dylan Porter, and replaced them with righties Dante Zamudio and Jorge Romero.

Reyes had pitched 7-1/3 innings in five games this season, giving up 14 earned runs (17.18 ERA). Porter pitched five innings in just three games for the Chukars, giving up nine earned runs (16.20 ERA).

Originally from Sylmar, California, Zamudio pitched for several collegiate teams before completing his studies at California State University, Northridge. The 22-year-old, 6-foot-1 right-hander has an 8.87 ERA in the Big West Conference at the end of the 2025 collegiate season.

Another native of southern California, Romero pitched for a number of different collegiate institutions before finishing his career at Western Illinois University, where he made 19 appearances in 2025. The 5-foot-11 right-hander concluded the season with a 5.00 ERA (30 earned runs, 54 innings pitched) after making six starts.

Game four of the redesigned Chukars’ six-game series against the Ogden Raptors takes place at Melaleuca Field on Friday night. The Chukars have already dropped three games against the Raptors in their current four-game losing skid; they must win the next three to split the series.
